Hawaiian culture
Aloha is a phrase that has a strong meaning to care for our environment and for one another. Some use it to say hello and do not fully understand the cultural background behind the meaning. I want to tell you a little about my past with the Hawaiian culture. I met a friend in the military a few years back, and he married a way that was mixed with Hawaiian. They had a daughter that I was a godfather to. Before this happened I had asked many question about her culture. She explained of there way of life and how they protect their own. They hate outsiders because of how they were slaughtered in the past. Hawaiians have cultural dances, the jobs they work to support they whole family, the chants to there gods, and so much more. I have engulfed a part of my life in there culture for my goddaughter. As of the travel while in the military I had the opportunity to see Waikiki on the island of Oahu.

I like different cultures, keeps the world from getting boring. I lived in Asia, all over Asia, but not in Hawaii. The culture is Hawaiian, but there are many other cultures from Asia tied up in there. Those cultures would include Japanese, Filipino, Korean (Newbies to Hawaii), Chinese, and many other Asian influences. The main culture is primarily Polynesian (I call them Rock people, as in the actor). They have been in the Pacific area region for eons. They populated each Island by boat or canoe. I think they followed the birds to land and they followed the stars. I studied their history and its freaking fascinating. They are thought to originate from Northern Africa and through Australia (think Aboriginals). Fascinating history, if you want to see some interesting mixtures, check out Papua New Guinea and Fiji. There are some weird genetic mysteries out there in the Pacific. Check them out yourself on YouTube.

I do agree with the Hawaiians being slaughtered in the past was a terrible incident. But as for the term Aloha, it is not just a simple hi. Aloha means peace and happiness when you arrive and for when you leave. I have family on the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu, Maui and Kauai. So you learning a different culture is a good thing, learning it for your God-daughter is special.
